Paul has extensive experience in the design and construction of underground stations, both in the UK and overseas, and includes the design of major cut and cover tunnelling and shafts on mass transit railway schemes, as well as aspects associated with surface, underground and building developments. His experience includes the assessment and design of underpinning, jacking and ground improvement to protect existing buildings from movement arising from underground construction works. His experience also includes a range of building structures; Commercial (Office / Retail), Residential, Hotel, Education, Long‐span Stadia, Embassy and other Government Buildings, as well as complex alterations / additions to existing Grade I and II listed buildings. With this experience he has undertaken permanent works and temporary works design, erection engineering, detailed structural assessments, detailed building damage assessments, their site survey, inspection & condition, investigation, alteration, appraisal and assessment for both repair to overcome condition, such as corrosion and for protective measures to existing buildings, ahead of and during tunnelling. His work has included oversite property development design above and adjacent to live, operational railways and existing tunnels. He has worked in Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and with teams in Italy, Spain and Greece.
