Arup , engineer, UK infrastructure
Ying is a Geotechnical engineer from Geotechnics division of Ove Arup & Partners. After a PhD research on the application of the observational method in deep excavation design through the Crossrail excavation case histories, she returned to Arup based in the central London office. She had over 10 years’ experience in a wide range of geotechnical design and construction activities for rail infrastructure, underground station, urban area basement and high rise building foundations. Ying is one of the leading researchers in implementing the probabilistic analysis to address the uncertainty for ground engineering design and merging the probabilistic analysis into the real-time back-analysis.
